Zentriert ins Antlitz - Diametral
I usually try to approach every release without expectations or prejudices, however, when it comes to such projects as ZIA no dispassionate analysis is possible.
The first impression of „Diametral” is that it sounds lighter than te previous album - „Prozium”. Perhaps it's less demanding, but in turn in gains fluency and dynamism. The opening track („Der Zorn des Lammes”) is somewhat an introduction – a whispered entry to the magical world of mysterious sounds, extremely fragile and sensual. If you listen attentively it can make incredible impression. What comes next is a mixture of samples, vividly running melodies and skilfully sliding electronic passages; the whole is highly eclectic, but the style is still recognizable as the one of ZIA which for me consist of slightly hushed sounds which do not scream and deafen, but gently enfold your head and pervade inside...
Not overwhelmingly mysterious, artfully arranged tracks, sounds that tear the space, moving in an anxious, hectic rush („Unvollständigkeit”) and fight with those running along the dynamic line („Sleeper”, „Hotspot Tracing”) narrowing te frame of the melody and sur pressing it to get the most appealing quality. Altogether it gives extremely rich soundscape of an industrial stylistics. Additional advantages – you might have come across these on previous releases of ZIA – are beats that energize the whole and the impression of enormous spaces that the sounds seem to open for the listener. Extraordinary feeling!
Definitely Zentriert Ins Antlitz did not disappoint my hopes and the album "Diametral” creates a space where both: a hiper sensitive and industrially corroded minds may wander freely.
