SKON - Nic Realnego

SKON is back! In great style! Since 2001 when the demo „Nic Realnego” was released nothing was heard of Daniel Cichowski, but luckily this period is over.
„Nic Realnego” was remastered, rearranged and added in four new songs which among their other functions chant the song of the future... of the new album.

Before the future comes let's see into the newe version of Daniel's demo. The album is like a string of pearls - hit shines by the hit and every one of them is ideal and one-of-a-kind. SKON, who used to be called „Polish Wumpscut”, makes the music that stands out by means of emphatic beat, fast pace and distorted, harsh, a bit muffled vocal.

Just Intro itself is enough to bring vast, open spaces, highly electronic sounds and compressed industrial structures to mind. They speed up the pace and prepare the listener for the following pieces.
Nic Realnego – brilliant song – features coasted run of sounds and highly distorted vocal invaded by cold, pure electronic tones. The mixture gives an impression of the clash of crystal and metal. The effect is marvellous!
Odległa Wolność has monumental ambience just like Wieczna Pieśń: they're both heart-rendering, they are like a dramatic, hard-hitting scream, a manifesto, a great expression of inner emotion.Rdzawe Łzy in turn represents a more gentle, calmer music: reverberating clang and a prevailing, pure, repetitive tone imitates someone playing dulcimer in the cave of echoes.
Nie Ten Wymiar depicts playfully dancing notes; the music sounds as if the artist's fingers were sliding casually forward and backward the piano keys. The vocal is grim and gloomy while the back- is a bit retarded which constitutes a perfect background for the petty sounds.
Umieram is the unquestioned hit of the whole CD: brilliant, so catchy and ravishing that if you were to choose just one song by SKON to listen to – choose this one. There's everything what's best for the project: vivid, fantastic pace, bright, electronic knives that cut the melodic structure and a bit frenzy, grim, harsh vocal. It's as if energy released, aggression incarnated – no surprise it's the piece the people mention as the flag, exemplary one associated with SKON.

Other interesting pieces are, for example Grajek- the brightest one at the album. It's best described as dancing melody, delicate flute fantasy that plays in front of pounding, sombre background and fast, dynamic beat that adds to expression of the song. The second is Mruczanka dla Śmierci – quite a double-dealing piece in which optimistic, frolic notes seem to supersede the background which – as for me – imitates a speeded breath of someone connected to a respirator...
How you Die For Pain starts with samples, then the dynamic sounds, pure electro-industrial in style follow. The whole track is minimalistic and very elegant.

Zwiastun – which is a harbinger of the new album – sounds dynamic, it features less of distorted, overdriven sounds and more such ones that could even bring synth pop arrangements to one's mind. The combination is also enriched by entangled, pounding sounds that are much into tribal or even trance.

Summing up: „Nic Realnego” is a very consistent album, set in one, recognizable electro-industrial genre, whose advantage is definitely characteristic vocal: rapacious, demonic, very harsh, astute and distorted – just like a devilish chorus. The additional merit is perfect workshop and hard, savvy sound – the whole is like metal pig iron and glowing mass. We recommend!
