Different State - Knar
Different State was formed in 1992; currently the line-up consists of Marek Xavier Marchoff, Laura Marchoff and Jarek Szczyglak. „Knar” is the re-edition of the release of 1991, rearranged and enriched by bonus tracks. The whole could be described as set in the industrial / ambient genre.
„Knar” creates the associations of rock elements combined with industrial and a tint of electro. Drilling, machine sounds mixed with guitars bring out a good effect; the album also features quite a dose of energy (Pride Midget). We'll also find here a screaming, manifesto-like vocal extinguishing oneself over the machine sounds combined with rock-metal background with guitars prevailing (Yield), claustrophobic, insane atmosphere build up by means of irregularly stratified melodies and torn vocal (Neurasthenia) as well as concoction of industrial whizz and circus, laboratorial or toyshop tunes (kna?).
The pieces „traktat 1” and „traktat 2” are purely instrumental. Calm, atmospheric, acoustic guitar vs violin melodies (traktat 1) plus a larger amount of vibrations (traktat 2) where the base, placid melody is invaded by the other, anxious one close the album.
What, however prevails throughout the album, is once mentioned combination of rock with industrial (knar) and experiments with sound (The Earthen Pettern)
All in all it's a interesting album that may win ears of those fond of well-working contrasts.
