XVIII Wroclaw Industrial Festival

Photo gallery of XVIII Wroclaw Industrial Festival - Sunday.

This year it was a very short edition for me - I only managed to see four bands on Sunday, but I was still able to feel the fantastic atmosphere of the event.
It's absolutely exceptional - lots of wonderful people, great venue and most incredible, original music created by artists driven by passion, intellect, sensitivity and talent.

Every year the line-up surprises; it presents a wide spectrum of artists representing various areas of industrial music and as such it stands for a great opportunity to see and experience  the richness and diversity of the sonic creation.

The four bands I could listen to on Sunday were of totally different roots and despite the fact that, just I like said, I saw only tiny piece of what the Festival offered in 2019, I felt totally enchanted and enriched and I dived into the very essence of the Festival.

The most aggressive, intensive and passionate concert was definitely the one of JUDE. It would be very hard to stay indifferent to intellectual monologue served in the flood of hard-hitting, irregular, punching soundscape. The message, the presentation, the charisma and power of the artists were smashing.
It was similar with the legends of the scene - VOMITO NEGRO gave an extremely energetic and dancy show.

Sylvgheist maëlström was all about combining sensitivity and dynamic power - I loved the visualisations that juxtaposed the beautiful insights into nature and industrial ruin and devastation.
The visuals of gossamer like delicacy and shocking images showing pollution and devastation were intensively contrasting and impressive. So was the sonic representation that was as compelling as precisely formed.

The show of COVENANT was planned as "vintage show" and so it included some songs that we haven't had a chance to hear during the live shows for a while. The setlist included such hits as "Replicant", "Thermin", "Edge of Dawn", but also "Ritual Noise", "Flux", "Call the Ships to Port", and, as an encore, we were given a choice and the auduience chose "Like Tears in Rain". The music of Covenant offers a nice mix of dynamic, dancy, harsh and cold. It's a great art to combine it in a way to reach the effect Covenant do.

There were some novelties regarding the very band itself - obviously we could see Eskil Simonsson on vocals, but there was only one accompanying musician on stage (not the usual two) - this time it was Daniel Jonasson.

Also, for the first time, there was a person responsible purely for visualisations - it was Bengt Rahm.

A bit dreamlike, intermingling and symbolic images stood for extremely interesting background to Covenant show.

All in all, it was a beautiful event - thank you Industrial Art for all your effort, waiting for 2020 edition!
