This year, I significantly scaled back on live shows due to health challenges, which made every concert and festival I attended all the more precious. Despite attending fewer events, each one left a deep impression and reminded me of the magic of live music. Here’s a month-by-month look back at my 2024 concert journey which I proudly reported for both Reflections of Darkness and AlterNation.eu
Planet Myer Day XX – Leipzig ( pix Alex Jung - thank you ❤ )
This milestone 20th edition of Planet Myer Day in Leipzig brought an incredible lineup, including Black Nail Cabaret, zalvox, or Dina Summer The event was a celebration of dark electronic music, with performances that felt immersive and electrifying. This iconic event is always a favorite of mine, and this year’s edition did not disappoint.
SIERRA.synthmusic – Berlin
The year began with Sierra’s captivating performance at Badehaus in Berlin. Her hypnotic blend of Synthwave, EBM, and Darkwave enveloped the audience, creating an atmosphere both intimate and cinematic. It was a dark, mesmerizing start to the concert year.
Buzz Kull & Aux animaux – Prague
February brought the intense “Horror Tour” to Prague’s Bike Jesus. Buzz Kull and Aux Animaux delivered electrifying sets, combining dark electronic energy with theatrical intensity. It was a night that pulsed with raw emotion and powerful beats.
13th E-Only Festivals Warm-Up Party – Leipzig
The warm-up party for the E-Only Festival offered an intimate prelude to the main event. It was an opportunity for fans to connect and build excitement for the weekend ahead.
13th E-Only Festival – Leipzig
The main event in Leipzig was a celebration of dark alternative music, featuring acts that showcased the scene’s diversity and innovation. Placebo Effect delivered a standout performance, blending theatricality with emotional intensity to create an unforgettable experience.
Metallica– Warsaw
Metallica’s concert in Warsaw on July 5th was a monumental experience. Their flawless performance and commanding presence filled the stadium with an energy that only a band of their caliber can deliver. It was a thrilling night of rock and metal excellence.
Castle Party Festival – BolkΓ³w
A few days later, I attended the 30th anniversary of Castle Party, set against the hauntingly beautiful backdrop of BolkΓ³w Castle. The lineup included She Past Away, Diorama, and Escape with Romeo, delivering unforgettable performances that perfectly complemented the festival’s gothic atmosphere.
Prague Gothic Treffen – Prague Sanctuary.cz
In August, Prague Gothic Treffen brought together a stellar lineup, including Emmon, S.P.O.C.K, and Girls Under Glass. The festival’s intimate venues and eclectic lineup offered a celebration of darkwave and post-punk, creating an unforgettable experience for attendees.
Henric de la Cour, Bokka & Kite– Prague
This triple bill in Prague was a standout evening. Henric de la Cour’s raw and theatrical performance was captivating, Bokka’s enigmatic soundscapes were mesmerizing, and Kite delivered an innovative Fourscher Festival– Erfurt
The Fourscher Festival in Erfurt brought a sense of community and intimacy to the end of my concert year. Every performance was filled with passion, and the atmosphere was warm and inclusive—a perfect way to reflect on a year of incredible music.
The XXIII WrocΕ‚aw Industrial Festival was a dive into experimental and industrial sounds. Lustmord with Karin Park, Sonar, and Bad Sector delivered unforgettable performances, and the gothic charm of WrocΕ‚aw added to the festival’s allure.
Closing my concert year, the Cold Hearted Festival was a powerful celebration of post-punk and darkwave. Acts like Kite, Rue Oberkampf Linea Aspera, and Rendez-Vous delivered electrifying performances, reaffirming the festival’s role as a key event in the European alternative music scene.
Although I attended fewer shows this year, each one felt deeply meaningful and unforgettable. Every performance reminded me of the beauty and power of live music, and I’m grateful for the moments of connection and inspiration they provided. Here’s to a healthier and equally inspiring 2025!
